Mr. and Mrs. America

All the numbers we read on jobless rates are an important factor in todays society. But there is something else I think that America should look at,even if they don't want to I hope that this little blog will help someone to understand that behind each number is a person.

Mr. and Mrs. America is getting up and getting the kids ready for work and school. The kids get on the bus and Mr.and Mrs. America go on to work. He works in a auto manufactorer. She works in a bakery. Mr. America gets to work and they hand him a pink slip he is told he can finish the day out but not to come into work tomorrow. This has nothing to do with his proformance, it just they don't have work anymore for all the employee they have so they are having to get rid of some. Please don't take this persinal they say. Mr. America goes on to work and finishes out his day. He works hard no matter what that is just the way he is.
Mrs. America is working and she gets off before her husband and walks home so she can start supper for the family. Mr. America walks in and his wife says " How was your day?" He goes and hugs his wife and tells her of the pinkslip, she begins to cry. He tells her everything will be alright. He will find something else. But they may have to be without insurance. But no matter how hard it gets we always have each other.
The kids come in and ask mom why she is crying. Dad has to explain to the kids about the pinkslip and what it means.
But just what does it mean?
The kids will no longer get new clothes for school, they will have to choose between food and medicine. They will have to have the telephone cut off and try not to use to much fuel for heat, they will have to wear more clothes to stay worm.
This American family has never had to ask for help before and they have never been in the public system as being on welfare, needed food stamps. They do not know how to go about getting help. They have always done it on their own. So  now what does this family do. Where does Mr. America go for a job. There are no job available. How does he keep his family from losing their home. How does he keep his children healthy.  Where does he go for answers.
Does President-elect  Obama have the answers? NO!  Does President Bush have the answers? NO! he is just waiting for his time to be  up it is no longer his problem. Who does Mr.America go to? That is the big question. There is no one in the leadership role. No one where you can turn to when all things look so bleak.
Good News! Mr. and Mrs. America will make it somehow, they will, why because they have what it takes. They will do anythning legal and honest to keep their family together and to keep their home. They will work for 20 hours a day at odd jobs to make sure of that. This is what makes America, America. We don't give up when the time are hard. But we do need the government to get its foot off our neck. We don't want hand outs we want to be able to make sure we have the things that we need to do good jobs and earn our on money.
This is just one prospective of a concerned American.
